There is no single "work visa" for New Zealand. There are several, and the right one depends on your job, your employer, your qualifications, your partner and what you want next. Abeona helps you work out which pathway fits, then handles the application so it's done properly the first time.
Which work visa is right for you?
Most people who come to work in New Zealand use one of these routes. Some are stepping stones to residence, some are not, and the difference matters if you are planning to stay.
Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).
The main route for people with a job offer from a New Zealand employer that Immigration New Zealand has accredited. The employer, the role and you each have to meet conditions, and the length and residence prospects of the visa depend on the job.
Post-study work. If you've completed an eligible New Zealand qualification, you may be able to stay on and work after your studies.
Specific purpose and other short-term work. For defined jobs or projects, seasonal roles, and some specialist or short-term situations.
Working with your partner. If your partner holds a work visa, a student visa, or is a New Zealand citizen or resident, you may be able to work here on the strength of that relationship.
​Working holiday. Available to younger people from certain countries for a set period. Simple to apply for, but with limits on how long you can work for one employer and no direct pathway to residence.
Work towards residence. Some jobs, particularly on the Green List and in roles paying above certain wage levels, open a pathway to residence after a period of work. If residence is your goal, it pays to choose the work visa with that in mind from the start.
