Second opinion

Not sure the advice you've had is right?

Maybe an application was declined and you don't understand why. Maybe you've been told there's no pathway, or told there definitely is one, and something doesn't add up. Maybe you did it yourself and want to know if you've missed something before it's too late. A second opinion is an independent review of your situation, with a clear answer about where you stand and what your options are. No pressure to switch advisers, and no sugar-coating either.

When a second opinion is worth it

Your application has been declined. INZ will have given reasons. Whether those reasons can be fixed, whether there's a right to reconsideration or appeal, and whether it's worth trying again are three separate questions, and the time limits for some of them are short. This is the moment to get an independent view quickly.

Your application has been sitting for a long time. Sometimes that's just processing. Sometimes INZ has raised concerns that haven't been dealt with, or something was lodged incorrectly. A review can tell you which.

Your circumstances have changed. A new job, a new partner, a change in the rules. The advice you had may have been right at the time and no longer be.

You've been told something that doesn't sit right. "You're not eligible", "residence is guaranteed", "just apply and see". If the advice feels too final or too easy, it's reasonable to check it.

You did it yourself and want it checked. Before you lodge, or while you wait. A short review can catch a missing document or a weak explanation while there's still time to fix it.

What you get

A second opinion isn't a second sales pitch. It's a review. You'll get an honest assessment of your situation against the current immigration instructions, in plain English, covering what's strong, what's weak, and what your realistic options are. If there's a deadline for reconsideration or appeal, you'll know it and what it takes. If the advice you've had is sound, we'll say so and you can go back to it with confidence. If it isn't, we'll say that too, with reasons, and you decide what to do next.

Where it helps, we'll put the key points in writing so you have something to refer back to, whoever you work with afterwards.

How it works

Send us what you have. The decision letter if there is one, any correspondence with INZ, what was lodged, and what you were told. The more we see, the more precise we can be. Everything you share is treated in confidence.

We review it. Against the rules that applied when the decision was made, and the rules that apply now, since they may differ.

We talk it through. An hour with Audrey on WhatsApp or Teams, going through what we found, what it means and what you could do about it.

You decide. Stay with your current adviser, continue on your own, or ask us to take it from here. All three are fine. You'll be making the decision with a clear picture rather than a hunch.

Let's talk it through

Because a second opinion only has value if it's independent and honest. There's no incentive here to tell you what you want to hear, and no incentive to talk you into an application that won't work.

You'll get an hour with me, one to one, on WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams. We go through your situation, your options and what would strengthen your position. Afterwards I send you a written summary of the key points and your next steps, so you have something to refer back to.

A short questionnaire first. It takes about ten minutes and means we spend the hour on your situation, not the basics.

One hour, one to one.

Video or voice call, on WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams, at a time that suits you

A written summary afterwards. Your options, the points that matter and the next steps, in plain English.

NZD $150 (+GST where applicable). Paid at booking, which confirms your time.

What a second opinion isn't

It isn't a guarantee that an application can be rescued; some can't, and you'll be told plainly if that's the case. It isn't a way to have the same application re-lodged with a different name on it, because that rarely changes the outcome. And it isn't an invitation to criticise another adviser. Licensed advisers in New Zealand work under a code of conduct, and if we see something that looks like a genuine breach we'll tell you what your options are, but our focus is your situation, not someone else's conduct.
